What Can I Do About Homelessness?

What can I do about homelessness? The reason why people want to know the right thing to do is because they are so afraid of doing the wrong thing. They don't want to enable someone to remain homeless, they don't want to make a bad situation worse, and they don't want to put themselves in a scenario that can get out of control.

This is a message I shared at the BWW Christian service in Syracuse NY. https://www.bww.com/Common/CharitableGiving.aspx

I had the privilege of speaking at the Sunday morning service for folks attending the BWW Conference in Syracuse, NY last July. I spoke about "identity" and knowing who you really are in Christ. I first learned about this concept by listening to a 1992 message by Greg Boyd out of St. Paul, MN and Woodland Hills Church, called "Knowing Your Name." Greg graciously gave me permission to share some of the same content at a previous engagement and this is the first time I've managed to capture a recording of the same message. Enjoy!

Not everyone who follows Jesus is called to be a missionary. But every single person who surrenders his or her life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ is called to live a life on mission.

"The only way to experience the supernatural power of God is to take a very natural step of faith." Here is a message that I shared at the young adults ministry at Grace Church, in Noblesville, IN. Enjoy.

"All great & crazy things for the Kingdom of God begin with one simple step." I shared this message at the High School ministry at Grace Church in Noblesville, IN.

Once again I had the great honor of speaking at the chapel service at the Bowery Mission in Lower Manhattan discussing the saving and healing power of forgiveness.

How can we expect our homeless friends to give us the privilege of journeying with them unless we intentionally create cultures within our organizations that emphasize the dignity and the image of God that is in each individual? We will discuss how we, as faith based communities, are called to create cultures of dignity where every aspect of what we do reflects the reality of Christ in us and in our guests.

We all look at God through the filter of our experiences. How do we know what God is actually like? This is a chapel message I shared at The Walter Hoving Home in Garrison, NY on July 5th, 2018. Enjoy.

15 Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation,[e] 16 for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. 17 He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. 18 Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead.[f] So he is first in everything. 19 For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, 20 and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.

How do you transform your ordinary day into a super natural experience? How do you live each day as though you are on a missions trip? I gave this message at Calvary Tabernacle in Cranford, NJ in an effort to communicate that serving at the Relief Bus is not limited to the streets of NYC or NJ. God calls us to live each day as if we are doing outreach on the Relief Bus. Scripture reference: Acts 3:1-8
